I have tried every suggestion and nothing works. I have run AVG and Spybot and Adaware every two days.I have Zone alarm firewall. I have updated the graphics driver and have changed the graphics on AOL. I have used CCleaner. It happens on and offline. Sometimes my computer freezes up. The black bars appear on the taskbar, sometimes the toolbar, buddy list, AOL channels. Dell helped me with testing the hard drive-it’s fine-and the test-can’t think of the name of it-but, that was fine, too.(the one where I had to tap on F12, sorry.) I have a Dimension2400, windows xp, dial-up. Aol says its a software problem and so does Dell. The gentleman at Dell hardware suggested to google it, which is how I found out about AOL’s graphics could cause black bars to appear and I unchecked the graphics compression and cheared the cache and even tried using a different brower, But nothing helps! How to share your screen with others using Windows XP. Without any other software.?

I’m trying to install Windows XP, Service Pack 2 on a computer. I tried to do this earlier, but the install did not finish and reverted to SP1. This computer was infected by Blaster and corrected (I believe). Now though, SP2 can’t even be downloaded (all ActiveX controls seem corrupted), Windows takes about 5 mintues to display the desktop when booted, and I can’t install any software. The computer has been scanned for rootkits (using F-Secure’s Blacklight), trojans (using Ewido), and viruses (using Norton’s). I’ve also personally cleaned the registry. Performing a clean-installation is not acceptable unfortunately because of programs installed that can’t be re-installed. Any suggestions to fix the computer? Thank you very much!

I take care of my daughter during the day and record videos from my webcam to send to mom. She receives them in a .avi format and plays them on Windows Media Player, or at least tries to. She can hear the audio but can’t see the video which defeats the purpose of sending my videos. Does she need to install a “codec” on her Windows XP machine? Can you point me in the right direction, i.e. Link to download correct software? I don’t believe the webcam can record in any other format.

I have used a cross cable to connect my laptop to desktop, the desktop is connected to Broadband connection. Using Windows XP Home networking, I configured everything. My Internet connection was working fine with my Home networking for laptop routed thru desktop connection.

Today I am not able to connect to Internet from laptop. But my network is fine. I can share files between the computers.

I can dial-up the ADSL connection thru my laptop successfully and connect to the internet provider. But the internet Explorer is not identifying the connection. I tried with opera also, and its too not working.

But I have a trading software, this is working FINE with the connection in my laptop thru desktop.

Few days before I tried to connect my laptop to my mobile phone. Is it because of this I am not able to connect?

If I connect the DSL connection directly to laptop, the internet is working fine. But it is not connecting thru the desk top.

Please help me.
