tedted777: this would require from RTSW (RunTime SoftWare) to write things that are not specific to Disk Imaging. Better let them devote all their resources to doing well the core: imaging a not-in-use HD (implying at least one reboot); restoring that image on an OTHER hard disk (again implying another reboot), that MUST, without any other command than the I/O key, boot from the image of the main partition.

can someone tell me if “drive to drive” option can be used for upgrading hard drive (80gb to 160gb) in a laptop using this software. my current drive is single partition C:/
at 2:40, it says that it wont let you resize the copy, but that you would need to use a partition manager afterwards to alter your paritions to the new size.
i know you posted this a month ago and may have found this out but simply right click the exe file and run it as an administrator. i had this problem as well.
Okay, I appreciate your idea, but the video needs to be edited badly. Nobody wants to watch a video that is mostly dead time. For youtube videos it’s a great idea to be concise.
I tried this and was successful. But, After swapping the drives, I cannot boot from the new drive. Is there something else that has to be done? Thanks!
A crucial step, as buried in the text that comes with DriveImage:
“If your drive still does not boot you can try to set a new “Disk ID”. Windows remembers old drive letter assignments which can cause problems when trying to boot from a cloned drive. You can force the removal of old drive letter assignments by setting a new Disk ID. Click Tools->Set new Disk ID and read the instructions.”
thanks, I look forward to using this software. This video helps a lot.

That’s only if you use the “Raw mode” option when backing up the drive.

Very nice. A good comprehensive tutorial.
The software seems like a good free alternative backup software.
